Children are Precious
Children are so precious.
In Matthew 19 we see parents and grandparents bringing their children to Jesus to be prayed over. I think it is safe to say that the parents had good reasons for wanting Jesus to pray for their sons and daughters. I’m sure many of them had behavior and health issues. Jesus demonstrated great love and value for children. If you think about it, they are just little beings that are trying out for adulthood. They will grow up to take on all the things we are taking on today. They need our wisdom, love, and guidance.
In Matthew 19:14- Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven”
Jesus uses many words and actions for his disciples to run toward a need, not away from it. (Hence: The ‘do not hinder’ part.) The disciples thought Jesus was too important for children; thinking he certainly had more important things to do. However, to Jesus, they were the mission! Praying for them, holding them, listening to them and blessing them. It was all worth it to Jesus. They were precious and were just as worthy of his time and attention.
If we think about the Great Commission, he boldly tells us to “go”, not to sit, not to hinder. Be active when he calls us to help. Jesus is setting an example of prioritizing the children, the future.
I still believe Jesus wants us to take care of children. Bringing them to Him for prayer, healing and blessings. There are so many ways to bless the children of the world.
How grateful I am for the role Mission E4 and all of our sponsors and volunteers play in loving and caring for the precious children of the world.
